Lurpak is a Danish brand of butter owned by Arla Foods, sold in more than 75 countries and known for its silver packaging.[1] The brand came into existence in October 1901, when a co-operative of Danish dairy farmers decided to create and register a common brand and mark for butter to increase sales; Arla dates the brand's roots to the same year and the "Lurmark" trademark the co-operative dairies registered together.[1][2] The logo shows two crossed lurs, the ancient Scandinavian brass instrument.[1] The United Kingdom is the brand's principal market.[1] Lurpak butters are made from milk, while the spreadable range also contains rapeseed oil; the range covers salted, slightly salted, unsalted, lighter, organic and plant-based lines.[1]
