Utterly Butterly is a chilled vegetable fat spread sold in Britain by Saputo Dairy UK, the former Dairy Crest, which lists it among its spread brands and publishes its recipe.[3][4] This barcode is the 500 g tub, the brand's standard pack, and the label now declares a 42 % fat spread of water, rapeseed, sustainable palm and sunflower oils and buttermilk, with 1558 kJ / 379 kcal, 42 g fat and 11.6 g saturates per 100 g.[4] The tub is produced in the United Kingdom and carries the RSPO certified sustainable palm oil licence 4-1341-21-100-00.[5] Spreads are made at the company's Kirkby plant on Merseyside.[3] The recipe has been cut twice on this one barcode: photographs of the same tub show a 49 % spread in 2018 and 2021, a 45 % spread in 2023, and the maker now publishes 42 %.[6][5]
More about this product
Dairy Crest bought the St Ivel spreads business at Kirkby from Uniq in November 2002 for 86 million pounds.[7] Saputo Inc. of Canada acquired Dairy Crest in April 2019 and renamed the business Saputo Dairy UK that July, although Dairy Crest Limited, registered in 1986, remains the principal legal entity.[3][8] A tub photographed in 2021 carried a "Lovingly made by Clover" endorsement across the front.[9] The brand has since dropped the greaseproof cover paper from its tubs to make the packaging fully recyclable.[4] The same British pack is exported: a 2025 photograph shows it on a Gulf supermarket shelf, marked as imported and priced in riyals.[2]
