About this product

KitKat is the chocolate-covered wafer bar Rowntree's of York launched in 1935; Nestlé has owned it since buying Rowntree's in 1988 and makes it worldwide except in the United States, where Hershey holds a licence.[3] This EAN is the single 42 g KitKat Chunky Peanut Butter bar: one thick wafer finger topped with peanut cream (19 %) and covered in milk chocolate (61.8 %).[4] Its wrapper is printed in Portuguese, French and Hungarian with consumer lines for all three countries and the French Triman mark.[2][1] The cocoa is Rainforest Alliance certified under mass balance, and the front carries Nutri-Score E.[4][5] Nestlé Hungária maps the barcode to Tesco's item "KitKat Chunky mogyoróvajas 42 g" in its 2025 retailer list.[6] Auchan Portugal lists the bar under this barcode, and its retailer data sheet gives Bulgaria as the country of origin.[7]

An earlier wrapper, photographed in 2019 with a best-before date of March 2020, was printed in Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic. It carried the Nestlé Cocoa Plan logo and printed 538 kcal per 100 g, against 528 kcal on the 2025 wrapper.[8][9][2] Auchan Portugal's data sheet still describes a recipe with peanut paste and sunflower lecithin.[7]
