About this product

Piste Noire is an amber beer from Brasserie des Cimes, sold in 33 cl glass bottles at 5.9% alcohol; the back label says the brewery's beers are brewed in Aix-les-Bains, Savoie.[2] The brewery was founded in 1998 and first brewed Piste Noire in 2001 as an all-malt amber beer with caramel notes.[3] The maker now calls it a filtered amber ale and sells it in 33 cl, 3×33 cl, 75 cl, 2 L and 16 L keg formats.[4] The 2021 label lists water, barley malt, hops and yeast.[5] Like other drinks over 1.2% alcohol, it is exempt from the EU nutrition declaration.[6]

More about this product

The brewery joined the Routin syrup group in 2004, and Cindy Durchon has run it since 2014.[3] A 2021 profile says it has been independent of its former parent company since then.[7] The range was relabelled for the brewery's 25th anniversary in 2023, so today's bottle may not match the photographs.[3] The 2006–2013 Barcodepedia listed this barcode as a Belgian ale.[8]

Coverage & research gaps (11)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Context: 3 / 4 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 3 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • packaging · stale: The maker relabelled its whole range in 2023; the newest photo of this bottle is from January 2021, so the current label and whether it kept this barcode are not confirmed.
  • nutrition · unknown: Only the ingredient strip and front of the 2021 label were photographed; whether that label carries energy or nutrition values is not known.
  • relationships · unknown: The French register lists Financière Savoyarde (SIREN 841036254) as president of the SAS; the maker says it joined the Routin group in 2004 and a 2021 profile says it has been independent since 2014. No ownership edge is recorded.
  • identity · disputed: The 2008 Barcodepedia page called the beer a "Belgisches Ale"; the maker calls it an amber ale.
