About this product

The black Nintendo DS Lite handheld game console, sold in Europe under this barcode. The 2007 Barcodepedia page for the number, written by an anonymous contributor, called it "Nintendo DS Lite black" and said the barcode came from a box sold in Germany.[2] E.Leclerc in France lists "Console DS Lite noire" under the same number in its retrogaming section, giving the colour as Noir and a price of 119,99 €, alongside a partner offer of a used console from 139 €.[1] No photograph of the box was available, so nothing on this page is transcribed from the pack, and the specifications below describe the DS Lite model rather than this particular box.

More about this product

The DS Lite is the slimmer redesign of Nintendo's DS: 41 % smaller than the original, with two much brighter screens adjustable over four levels, a longer stylus stored in a side slot, and a shallower Game Boy Advance port that ships filled with a blank cartridge.[3] Its top screen reaches 200 cd/m² and the lower touch screen 190 cd/m², and a 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery gives roughly 15 to 19 hours of play after about three hours of charging.[4] It was announced on 26 January 2006, reached Japan on 2 March, the United States on 11 June and Europe on 23 June 2006 at €150; white and black were the launch colours, and eight were sold in Europe in all.[3] The model was reportedly discontinued in April 2011.[4]

The brand belongs to Nintendo Co., Ltd. of Kyoto, founded in September 1889 and incorporated in November 1947, whose affiliated companies include Nintendo of America Inc. and Nintendo of Europe SE.[5] Nintendo's European operations are run by Nintendo of Europe, opened in Großostheim, Germany, in June 1990,[6] and today registered as Nintendo of Europe SE in Frankfurt am Main under HRB 135709,[7] formerly Nintendo of Europe GmbH.[8] The distributor relation for France is derived from that, not read from a pack. The barcode starts with 0045496, in the range GS1 issues to members in the United States and Canada; no public record names its registrant, so the prefix owner is given, as a derived link, as Nintendo of America Inc.[5][9] The eBay.de catalogue lists a black DS Lite under a different EAN, 0084119930960, so German listings that print no barcode were not taken as evidence for this one, and the model code USG-001 that catalogue gives is not carried across.[10]

E.Leclerc lists "Console DS Lite noire" under EAN 45496442422, this GTIN without its leading zeros, in its retrogaming section at 119,99 € with a partner offer of one used console from 139 €. The console has been out of production since 2011, so the price is a resale price, not a retail one

A listing is evidence that this barcode is sold there, on that date; a price is what that listing showed, not a recommended price.

Coverage & research gaps (8)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Context: 1 / 1 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 1 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Specifications: 0 / 10 · Recorded specifications mapped to comparable property keys
  • identity · unknown: No model code is evidenced for this barcode. The eBay.de catalogue entry that names USG-001 carries a different EAN, so model_number is left empty rather than carried across
  • images · unknown: No photograph of the box or console exists for this barcode; the product is in none of Open Food Facts, Open Library, MusicBrainz or Wikidata, so no label surface has been read
  • specifications · schema_gap: Screen brightness, battery capacity and charging time have no controlled key in the specifications enum, so they are kept as free-text property and value pairs with numeric_value
  • markets · unknown: smartoys.be, a Belgian shop whose product URL carries this barcode, answers HTTP 403 behind Cloudflare, so Belgium is not added as a market
  • evidence · stale: The 2007 Barcodepedia capture is the only source tying this barcode to a box sold in Germany; it is a contributor-typed secondary source, good for identity only
  • relationships · stale: company/nintendo-of-america states no gs1_prefixes; a review pass cannot amend an existing company stub, so prefix 0045496 is recorded only on the gs1_prefix_owner row here
  • images · not_researched: No product photographs recorded.
  • schema · schema_gap: Some specifications retain source labels without comparable property keys.
