About this product

This barcode, UPC 0 09128 48783 0, is the newsstand code of Electronics Now, the monthly electronics hobbyist magazine published by Gernsback Publications of Farmingdale, New York.[1] Electronics Now was the July 1992 renaming of Radio-Electronics, the title Hugo Gernsback had started as Radio-Craft in 1929; in January 2000 it merged with Popular Electronics to become Poptronics.[2] The code is printed beside the cover prices on the October 1992 issue, whose cover story was a build-it-yourself FM Handi-Talkie, and again on the September 1995 issue with the issue add-on 09.[1][3] A barcode catalogue lists it under an eBay listing of that October 1992 issue.[4]

The last Radio-Electronics issues printed the code 0 71896 48783 1, with the same 48783 item number.[5] The magazine kept ISSN 0033-7862 at the renaming and carried ISSN 1067-9294 by December 1999.[1][6]

Where it's sold

A listing is evidence that this barcode is sold there, on that date; a price is what that listing showed, not a recommended price. Store links may be affiliate links (how this works).

Coverage & research gaps (8)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Context: 3 / 3 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 3 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Specifications: 0 / 6 · Recorded specifications mapped to comparable property keys
  • relationships · unknown: The UPC block 0 09128 carries magazines of several unrelated publishers (Horse Illustrated, Mopar Collectors Guide, a Comag puzzle title), which points to a newsstand distribution block rather than a publisher prefix; no company is written as prefix owner.
  • identity · disputed: The June 1992 Radio-Electronics cover prints 0 71896 48783 with the same 48783 item number; the July 1992 cover text is garbled, so the exact first issue carrying 0 09128 48783 0 is between July and October 1992.
  • images · unknown: No front cover picture with a licence that allows reuse; the scans on World Radio History carry no stated licence.
  • evidence · stale: Evidence was observed over a year ago; check for newer labels. Historical evidence remains valid.

  • images · not_researched: No product photographs recorded.
  • schema · schema_gap: Some specifications retain source labels without comparable property keys.
