Sodium hexametaphosphate

About

Sodium hexametaphosphate is a salt of composition Na6[(PO3)6]; the technical grade sold to industry is a mixture of metaphosphates of which the hexamer is one, also called sodium polymetaphosphate or Graham's salt.^[1] It is used as a sequestrant and is permitted as a food additive under the E number E452i.^[1] It appears as "Sodium Hexametaphosphate (To Protect Flavor)" on the United States label of Mountain Dew Code Red.^[2]
