Isobutane

About

Isobutane, also called 2-methylpropane or i-butane, is a colourless, odourless gas of formula HC(CH3)3, the branched isomer of butane obtained by isomerising it, and the simplest alkane with a tertiary carbon atom; besides its refinery use as an alkylation feedstock it is used as a propellant for aerosol spray cans.^[1] It is one of the three liquefied-gas propellants in the 150 ml Dove Invisible Dry anti-perspirant aerosol.^[2]
