Extract of the berries of Sambucus nigra, the European black elder, a shrub native to Europe, the Azores and the Middle East whose species name refers to the deeply dark colour of its ripe berries.[1] Printed as "Holunderbeerextrakt" on Haribo Goldbären, listed after the flavouring.[2]
