2,4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol is a mild antiseptic used in medicated throat lozenges, where it is paired with amylmetacresol to kill bacteria associated with mouth and throat infections; Wikipedia names it as one of the two Strepsils actives.[1] Reckitt's Strepsils Malaysia site prints the same substance under its older name dichlorophenylcarbinol and gives the core-range strength as 1.2 mg per lozenge.[2]
