Bat Out of Hell is the debut studio album by Meat Loaf, written by Jim Steinman from his Peter Pan musical Neverland, recorded in 1975 and 1976 at studios including Bearsville Studios and produced by Todd Rundgren. Cleveland International Records and Epic Records released it in October 1977; it has sold over 43 million copies, is certified 14× platinum by the RIAA and led to the sequels Bat Out of Hell II (1993) and III (2006).[1] MusicBrainz groups 25 releases of the album.[2] Its editions include the 2003 US remastered CD EK 90678[3] and a Canadian limited-edition CD reissue, WEK 90891.[4]
