Aquafina Purified Drinking Water

About the range

Aquafina Purified Drinking Water is the unflavoured water line of PepsiCo's Aquafina brand as sold in the United States: municipal water purified by reverse osmosis, ultraviolet light and ozone, bottled with no ingredient but the water itself.^[1] PepsiCo's own SmartLabel records show the line under three printed denominations, Purified Drinking Water, Purified Water and Purified Still Water, in single 16 and 20 fl oz bottles, in 24 x 12 fl oz cans and in 24-, 32- and 40-bottle multipacks of 16.9 fl oz (500 ml) bottles, all distributed by PepsiCo, Inc. of Purchase, New York.^{[2][3][4][5][6]} PepsiCo's trade store sells the 16 fl oz bottle as an aluminium bottle, twenty-four to a case.^[7] The 24-bottle pack is the article filed here under barcode 012000504044.^[2]

The line was first distributed in Wichita, Kansas in July 1994, after four earlier PepsiCo attempts at the bottled water market, and by 2009 it held 13.4 per cent of United States bottled-water retail sales.^[1] Two label and pack changes are dated: from 27 July 2007 each bottle states that the water comes from a public source, after campaigners argued that the mountain artwork implied a spring; and in 2009 a redesigned bottle cut the plastic by about half, to 10.9 g.^[1] Wikipedia also lists 24 fl oz, 1 litre and 1.5 litre bottles in the line's packaging range.^[1]
