This was the best-researched entry I have reviewed today - it already had sourced Markets rows and explicitly refused Open Food Facts' country tags - so the corrections are narrow but one of them matters. **The entry stated that "the jar prints no declaration for the powder as sold".** A jar photographed on 2025-03-06 prints exactly that: a four-column panel giving per 100 g of powder (1593 kJ / 377 kcal, fat 2,5 g, carbohydrate 78 g, sugars 70 g, fibre 7,8 g, protein 6,6 g, salt 0,10 g, calcium 265 mg, phosphorus 265 mg, iron 15 mg) beside the prepared columns. It is now a transcribed as_sold panel. A second jar photographed on 2025-11-21 still shows the old two-column prepared-only panel, so **both artworks were in circulation in 2025** and no chronology is claimed. **The printed "Por taza" column is now its own panel**, which v2 supports and which the old note said could not be expressed; its basis is the label's own 14 g portion with basis_state as_prepared and a note that the values include the milk (383 g / 14 g is the 27 servings the pack counts). **The compound ingredient is now structured**: the kola-malted cereal cream carries its three sub-ingredients by parent_id instead of describing the nesting in prose. **Newly sourced from the maker's own artwork sheet:** the operator block printed on the label gives Idilia's **Valencia** address (Av. Aragón 30), not the Barcelona one in the sheet's footer that the entry recorded; "Ingredientes alérgenos en negrita: trigo, cebada"; logistics (DUN 18410014478730, GTIN-14 78410014478732, 12 per case, 1080-day shelf life, jar 144 x 93 x 93 mm) as Specifications; and the 2020 artwork's **UTZ** wording for the cocoa, where the 2021 pack footnotes **Rainforest Alliance** - a dated certification change now recorded as a gap. **country_of_origin: ES** is added, sourced from Cesarfer's specification table ("País de origen: España"), which rule 7 allows; the entry had declined it. A third market row adds Tienda de Oportunidades (SKU 8410014478733, EUR 2.15, out of stock). **References added:** `off-img-9`, `off-img-10`, `off-img-20`, `off-img-21`, `off-img-22`, `off-img-24`, `off-img-25`, `off-img-26` and `tiendaoportunidades`, replacing four generically named pack refs so each panel and claim cites the dated photograph it was read from. **Unresolved:** which panel artwork is current; the date of the UTZ-to-Rainforest switch; and Open Food Facts' calcium of 239 mg per 100 ml against the label's 128 mg, where the label is followed because its own cup column corroborates it. ## About <!--about-->
ColaCao el Original is the soluble cocoa powder that Spanish households stir into milk at breakfast, sold here in a yellow 383 g jar with a red screw lid holding about 27 servings.[^off-img-22][^off-img-24] The food is named on the side as a "preparado alimenticio al cacao" and has six ingredients: sugar, natural fat-reduced cocoa at 22%, a bracketed kola-malted cereal cream of wheat flour, barley malt extract and a natural kola-nut flavouring, mineral salts of calcium and phosphorus, flavourings and salt, with wheat and barley set in bold as the allergens.[^off-img-20][^ficha] The front carries "con cacao natural", "sin aditivos" and "cacao obtenido de cultivo sostenible"; the barcode panel adds the Green Dot, the Spanish yellow-bin mark and the ADO rings the brand carries as a sponsor of the Spanish Olympic team.[^off-img-22][^off-img-21]
The nutrition on this jar is declared for the drink as prepared, two spoonfuls of 14 g in 200 ml of semi-skimmed milk, so those figures include the milk and are not properties of the powder.[^off-img-10] One jar photographed in March 2025 prints a fuller panel that adds a per-100 g column for the powder itself, at 1593 kJ and 377 kcal with 70 g of sugars and 7,8 g of fibre; a jar photographed that November still prints only the two prepared columns, so both artworks were on sale in the same year.[^off-img-24][^off-img-25] The maker's own artwork sheet of April 2020 specifies UTZ wording for the cocoa, while the pack photographed in 2021 footnotes it to Rainforest Alliance instead.[^ficha][^off-img-20]
Two brothers-in-law from the Gràcia district of Barcelona, José María Ventura and José Ignacio Ferrero, created ColaCao in 1945; their firm Nutrexpa, founded in 1940, put the powder on sale in 1946 and made it famous with the radio jingle "Yo soy aquel negrito del África tropical".[^wiki-colacao][^wiki-nutrexpa] Nutrexpa was divided between the founding families with effect from 1 January 2015: the cocoa business went to the Ferrero family as Idilia Foods, the biscuit brands to the Ventura family as Adam Foods.[^wiki-idilia][^idilia] The kola nut whose extract flavours the cereal cream is the seed of Cola acuminata and Cola nitida, West African trees whose caffeine-bearing seeds also gave cola drinks their name.[^wiki-kola]
