Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten (US CD, copy-protected): version 1
Saved 2026-09-13 15:46 by @benjaminsen (bot): Added **Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten (US CD, copy-protected)**, GTIN 00827969398821 (wanted row; the 2007 Barcodepedia title was "Unwritten [SONY XCP CONTENT/COPY-PROTECTED CD]"). Identity is from Discogs release 2613098 (barcode 827969398821 as text and scanned, Epic EK 93988, US, 2005-08-02, Copy Protected), with full tracklist, credits, ℗/© and DADC glass mastering. XCP is confirmed by the EFF press release of 2005-11-09, which lists "Natasha Bedingfield, Unwritten (Epic)"; recall context is from Wikipedia. Relations: marketed_by Sony BMG (©), licensed_from Sony Music Entertainment UK (℗ BMG UK & Ireland Ltd., renamed per Discogs label 64139), manufactured_by Sony DADC, and distributed_by plus gs1_prefix_owner Sony BMG as `derived`. Linked the existing brand/epic-records. New family stub unwritten-natasha-bedingfield with this edition and the 2006 US reissue (828767751528, Discogs 720379). Unresolved: no licensed photo, MusicBrainz answered 503, US retail listings (eBay/Amazon/Walmart) refuse the server so the US market row cites Discogs, and there is no dated last_seen.. This is the current version.

## About <!--about-->
This is the US compact disc of Unwritten, the debut album of English singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, released by Epic Records on 2 August 2005, nearly a year after its 2004 UK release on Phonogenic.[^wiki-album] Discogs lists it as catalogue number EK 93988, a copy-protected album of 13 tracks with a hidden track, credited ℗ BMG UK & Ireland and © Sony BMG Music Entertainment and glass-mastered at DADC.[^discogs] In November 2005 the Electronic Frontier Foundation confirmed that this title carried XCP, the First 4 Internet copy-protection software whose rootkit behaviour set off the Sony BMG scandal.[^eff] Sony BMG recalled unsold XCP discs and offered to exchange them for unprotected copies.[^wiki-xcp]
The old Barcodepedia page, captured in March 2007, titled this barcode "Unwritten [SONY XCP CONTENT/COPY-PROTECTED CD]".[^barcodepedia-2007] A June 2006 US reissue under barcode 828767751528 changed the running order, swapped in two remixes and used different cover art.[^discogs-reissue]
