Campbell's Condensed Tomato Soup is the flagship canned soup of The Campbell's Company of Camden, New Jersey, sold in the United States in a 10.75 oz (305 g) steel can whose red-and-white label still carries the gold Paris International Exposition medallion of 1900.[^offfront] One can makes about two and a half servings of half a cup (120 mL) of condensed soup at 90 calories each, and the current list is tomato puree, water, wheat flour and sugar, with less than 2% salt, potassium salt, natural flavoring, citric acid, ascorbic acid, celery extract and garlic oil.[^campbells] A label photographed in October 2022 used high fructose corn syrup and potassium chloride instead, so the recipe changed at some point between then and now.[^offing] The condensing method that made the soup possible was worked out by company chemist John T. Dorrance in 1897.[^wikipedia]
The can prints its barcode as 0 51000 00011 8.[^offnut] Kroger and its banners list the same article under the catalogue id 0005100000011, which is that twelve-digit UPC with its check digit dropped and zero-padded to thirteen; the 2006-2013 Barcodepedia carried a page for that number rather than for the printed barcode.[^kroger][^archive] The 1869 partnership of Joseph A.
