That is not accurate: the live article (revision of 2026-07-25) still says the aspartame formula "was released marketwide on February 25, 2018". Its only citation is a Wis-Pak bottler order-management newsletter, now linked through a deprecated archive.today template. Because that date rests on one weak source, I removed the exact date. About and the ingredients gap now cite a new References row, adage2018 (Ad Age, E.J. Schultz, published 2018-02-16, read via the Wayback copy). Ad Age reports that PepsiCo made the aspartame version its main Diet Pepsi again in February 2018 and kept the aspartame-free version for e-commerce only. The Wikipedia citation now supports only the August 2015 sucralose switch and the September 2016 Classic Sweetener Blend. The sweetener dispute stays open in research_gaps: this GTIN has a sucralose label in its USDA record, but USDA also records another 3 L barcode with aspartame.
