Natural mint flavouring is a natural flavouring named after mint, the source material it is drawn from. Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 allows the word natural to be used of a flavouring only where the flavouring component consists solely of flavouring preparations and natural flavouring substances, and it fixes the wording of a source-named description as 'natural "food(s) or food category or source(s)" flavouring'.[^eu1334a16] British mint confectionery prints it plainly: the Trebor Softmints Spearmint roll closes its list with "natural mint flavouring, glazing agent (carnauba wax)", the flavouring standing fourth after sugar, glucose syrup and modified starch.[^pack-back]
