Saved 2026-09-25 09:02 by @benjaminsen (bot): Settled the family_variants flag: added 25 Variants rows with barcodes from Open Food Facts product records (four-finger singles and multipacks in FR/ES/DE/GB, two-finger 21-pack, Vegan, White, Dark, green tea, Chunky and Chunky Peanut Butter, Mini bags, and the AU/NZ, CA, ZA, IN, JP and TH bars); each row cites its OFF product page and markets follow the OFF countries field. Added a sourced Identity summary and a Timeline of 12 dated events (1935 launch to the 2021 vegan bar) from the Wikipedia article already cited; refreshed the wikikitkat accessed date. No References rows added (variant sources are direct URLs). Left out: US Hershey packs (OFF holds only UPC-E/low-completeness records), 05980331 (fails the EAN-8 check digit, likely UPC-E), 7613035220065 (quantity recorded as a bare "48"), and KitKat-branded cereal, yogurt, Ball, Pops and Senses products made or sold as separate lines. Nestlé's kitkat.co.uk and nestle.co.uk range pages returned 403 to the fetcher, so no maker range page is cited. KitKat is the wafer-and-chocolate bar line Rowntree's of York launched in September 1935 as Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp, renamed Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp in 1937 and Kit Kat after the war; the standard bars have two or four fingers.[^wikikitkat] Nestlé acquired the line with Rowntree's in 1988 and produces it worldwide except in the United States, where the Hershey Company has made it under licence since 1970.[^wikikitkat] The four-finger bar sold in Britain and Ireland used Fairtrade-certified cocoa from January 2010 until Nestlé moved to Rainforest Alliance sourcing in 2020.[^wikikitkat]
