The Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe GmbH & Co. KGaA is the holding company of a Munich brewing group and, with 6.34 million hectolitres brewed in 2023, Germany's third-largest brewer. It is owned by the Schörghuber Stiftung & Co. Holding KG (70 %) and the Dutch Heineken International B.V. (30 %).[^paulaner-wiki] The group goes back to Schörghuber's purchase of the Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner breweries in 1979; the brewing interests were bundled in the Bayerische Brau-Beteiligungs-Holding, renamed Bayerische BrauHolding AG in 1999, which entered the joint venture Brau Holding International with Heineken in 2001 and was renamed Brauholding International GmbH & Co. KGaA in 2005. Schörghuber announced in February 2017 that Brau Holding International would be merged into Paulaner Brauerei GmbH & Co.
