Jacobs Suchard was the Swiss chocolate and coffee group formed in 1982, when the Bremen coffee house Jacobs, run by Klaus Johann Jacobs, merged with Interfood, the Swiss holding behind Suchard and Tobler; it had its seat in Zurich.[^wiki-jacobs][^wiki-mdlz-de] Its brands included Suchard, Milka, Toblerone and, from 1987, the Belgian chocolate Côte d'Or: it bid for Côte d'Or against Nestlé that year, took 66 % of the shares and the remainder in February 1989, which is why it is listed as the former owner on the Côte d'Or brand page here.[^wiki-cotedor] It also bought the American confectioner Brach's in 1987.[^wiki-jacobs]

Philip Morris's Kraft General Foods took over Jacobs Suchard in 1990, apart from Brach's and Interfood, and in 1993 Kraft General Foods Europe and Jacobs Suchard were combined as Kraft Jacobs Suchard, the business that later traded as Kraft Foods and, from 2012, as Mondelēz International.[^wiki-jacobs][^wiki-mdlz-de] Its corporate identity is not settled here: no Swiss register record was reachable for this review, so the legal name, the Zurich register number and the date the entity was struck off are not recorded on this page.
