Trebor is a British mint and sugar confectionery brand owned by Mondelez International.[^wiki-trebor] It was founded on 4 January 1907 by W. B. Woodcock, Thomas Henry King, Robert Robertson and Sydney Herbert Marks on Katherine Road in Forest Gate, east London, and registered as Trebor Sharps Limited; the name is Robert spelled backwards, and was registered as a trademark four days after the end of the First World War.[^wiki-trebor][^ch-trebor-bassett] Packs are signed with the TREBOR wordmark set in a red star under the line "MASTERS OF MINTYNESS", and the best known lines are Extra Strong Mints, launched in 1937 as Extra Strong Peppermints, and Softmints.[^pack-front][^wiki-trebor] Mondelez makes Trebor mints at its Sheffield factory, the group’s largest confectionery plant in Europe.[^mdlz-uk]

By the end of the 1960s the family-run company was the fourth largest confectionery group in the United Kingdom and exported to more than fifty countries, and by the mid-1980s it led the British market in branded mints and boiled sweets; along the way it bought Moffat toffee in 1959, the confectionery interests of Clarnico in January 1969 and Maynards in December 1985.[^wiki-trebor] Cadbury Schweppes bought the company on 14 September 1989 for GBP 147 million, and from 1 March 1990 it traded as Trebor Bassett, a division of Cadbury; production later moved to north Sheffield.[^wiki-trebor] Companies House still carries the original registration, number 00091528, incorporated as Trebor Sharps Limited on 4 January 1907, renamed Trebor Limited on 31 December 1978 and Trebor Bassett Limited on 1 March 1990, and Exhibit 21 to Mondelez International’s 2025 Form 10-K lists Trebor Bassett Limited among the registrant’s United Kingdom subsidiaries.[^ch-trebor-bassett][^mdlz-ex21] The brand’s own domain, trebor.co.uk, answers with a permanent redirect to Mondelez’s Cadbury UK site at cadbury.co.uk.[^trebor-co-uk] Early advertising used the jingle "Trebor mints are a minty bit stronger", and in 1987 Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel’s "Mr. Soft" was used in television adverts for Softmints and Softfruits, sung in imitation by Phillip Pope; EMI re-released the single on 7 March 1988 to coincide with the spring campaign.[^wiki-trebor]
