Bisto is the best known name in instant gravy in the United Kingdom and Ireland.[^wp-bisto] The first Bisto product, a meat-flavoured gravy powder, was invented by Messrs McRoberts and Patterson in 1908; gravy granules followed in 1979, and by 2005 Bisto Gravy Granules held more than 70 per cent of the British market.[^wp-bisto] The Bisto Kids, drawn by Will Owen and first published in 1919, gave the brand its "Ah, Bisto!" catchphrase.[^wp-bisto] Premier Foods lists Bisto among its own brands.[^pf-brands]
