About Sony Music Publishing
Sony Music Publishing, legally Sony Music Publishing (US) LLC and formerly Sony/ATV Music Publishing, is an American music publisher owned by Sony Group Corporation through Sony Music Group, with over six million songs owned or administered as of March 2025.[1] It was formed as Sony/ATV in 1995 by merging the original Sony Music Publishing with ATV Music, which Michael Jackson owned.[1] It led the investor consortium that acquired EMI Music Publishing in 2012 and completed its full acquisition of that company in November 2018.[1][2] Since August 2019 its management has been merged with Sony Music Entertainment's under Sony Music Group.[1]
