Sony DADC Austria was founded in 1986 as DADC Austria, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, and began producing optical discs on 29 July 1987 at Anif/Niederalm near Salzburg; a second plant opened at Thalgau on 14 August 1991.[1] It was renamed Sony DADC Austria AG on 22 June 1993, and its matrix branding changed from "DADC Austria" to "DADC" in 1998 and to "Sony DADC" in 2000.[1]
