About
RED Distribution, LLC (Relativity Entertainment Distribution, later styled RED Music) was a Sony-owned sales and marketing division that distributed releases for more than sixty independent record labels.[1] It was founded in 1979 as Important Record Distributors, a hard rock distributor that handled Metallica's first two LPs in the US, took the RED name in the 1990s, and was merged into The Orchard by Sony Music in June 2017.[1] Discogs credits it as manufacturer and distributor of the US CD of Mötley Crüe's Saints of Los Angeles.[2]
