Nutrexpa

About

Spanish food group based in Barcelona, founded in 1940 by two businessmen from the Gràcia district, José Ignacio Ferrero Cabanach and José María Ventura Mallofré, and controlled by their families thereafter.^[1] It began selling ColaCao soluble cocoa in 1946 and built the brand through radio and television advertising and sports sponsorship; it bought the cocoa maker Phoscao in 1962, the Girona biscuit maker Galletas Paja in the 1970s, Central Lechera Palentina in 1986 and the La Piara pâté business in 1988, and took ColaCao abroad from 1980, starting in Chile.^[1] Its brand list at the end included ColaCao, Nocilla, Okey, Paladín and Mesura in cocoa, Artiach, Cuétara and Phoskitos in biscuits and cakes, La Piara pâtés, Bocadelia sandwich mixes, Granja San Francisco honey and Aneto stocks.^[1][2] In 2015 the group was split into two independent companies, Idilia Foods for the Ferrero family and Adam Foods for the Ventura family, and the Nutrexpa name went out of use.^[1]
