Mey İçki is Turkey's largest producer and distributor of alcoholic drinks, established in 2004 when Tekel's alcoholic drinks division was privatised.[1] Its brands include Yeni Rakı, Tekirdağ Rakısı, İstanblue and Binboa vodkas and Kayra wines.[1] Diageo agreed in 2011 to buy it from TPG Capital and Actera for an enterprise value of £1.3 billion.[2] The Yeni Rakı trademarks are registered in its name,[3] and its registered name is Mey İçki Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.[4] Mey operates in Turkey as two companies, one for manufacturing and one for sales and marketing.[1]
