About FXpansion
FXpansion is a music software developer founded in 1999 in London, known for the BFD acoustic drum software, the Guru drum machine and the Geist sampler.[1][2] Its UK company, FXpansion Audio UK Limited (Companies House 04455834), was incorporated on 6 June 2002 as FX Pansion Audio UK Limited, took its current name in August 2002 and was dissolved on 25 May 2026.[3]
FXpansion was based in Shoreditch from 2005 to 2009, opened a US subsidiary, FXpansion USA Inc, in 2008 to handle North American sales and distribution, and moved its headquarters to London's South Bank in 2009.[1] ROLI acquired FXpansion on 1 September 2016 and sold the BFD instrument to inMusic Brands in April 2020.[1]
