The Boston Beer Company, Inc. is an American maker of beer, hard cider, hard seltzer, flavoured malt beverages and spirits-based ready-to-drink cocktails, founded in 1984 and based at One Design Center Place, Boston, Massachusetts.[1][2] Its brands are Samuel Adams, begun in 1984, Twisted Tea (2001), Angry Orchard (2011), Truly Hard Seltzer (2016), Dogfish Head and Sun Cruiser (2024).[1] Under a licensing agreement it entered with PepsiCo, Inc. in 2021, it has since 2022 developed, marketed and sold the alcoholic Hard Mountain Dew, which accounted for about 2% of its net revenue in 2024 and in 2025.[1]
The company is incorporated in Massachusetts and files with the Securities and Exchange Commission under CIK 949870 and EIN 04-3284048; its Class A common stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange as SAM.[2][1] No company stands above it. Its unlisted Class B common stock, which elects a majority of the board and decides all other matters requiring stockholder approval, was held in full, as of 20 February 2026, by its founder, chairman and chief executive C. James Koch, a private individual.[1]
