Pest/Plant Control Products
GPC segment
About
Includes products used to control, repel, or kill pests and products specifically designed to manage plant health, enhance growth, or address plant-related issues.[1]
Pest/Plant Control Products is one of the top-level segments of the GS1 Global Product Classification, the scheme this site uses to file a product by what it is, and it sits at the root of the hierarchy with no parent above it. It holds a single family of the same name, which divides into two classes: Pest/Plant Control Products, covering products used to control, repel or kill pests, including insecticides, pesticides and rodenticides; and Plant Chemicals or Natural Agents/Treatments, covering products designed to manage plant health, enhance growth or address plant-related issues. The segment definition quoted above is those two class definitions joined.[1]
Fifteen bricks sit beneath the two classes, and an individual product is filed at brick level. Under the first class: insect and pest barriers and traps, insecticides/pesticides/rodenticides, non-personal repellents, and powered and non-powered animal scarers and deterrents. Under the second: weed-killers and herbicides, plant and soil fertilizer or food, fungicides, leaf shine and plant cleaners, plant growth regulators, and seed protection and mordants. Each class also carries its own variety-pack brick and a catch-all "other" brick. Unlike a brick, this segment carries no exclusion text in the published classification, so none is reproduced here.[1]
