Toblerone

About

Swiss chocolate brand created in Bern in 1908 by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann; the name joins "Tobler" and "torrone", the Italian word for honey-almond nougat.^[1][2] The bar is a row of triangular prisms, and the Matterhorn with the Bern bear appeared on the pack from 1970.^[1] Tobler merged with Suchard in 1970, then with Jacobs, was bought by Kraft Foods in 1990 and passed to Mondelēz International in 2012.^[2][3] Around 90 % of Toblerone is made at the Bern-Brünnen plant.^[4]
