Pringles is an American brand of stackable potato-based crisps invented by Procter & Gamble in 1968 and first marketed as "Pringle's Newfangled Potato Chips".[1] The chemist Fredric J. Baur developed the saddle shape and the tubular can from 1956, and Alexander Liepa later improved the taste and holds the patent.[1] Procter & Gamble sold the brand in 2012 to the company now called Kellanova, and Mars completed its purchase of Kellanova on 11 December 2025.[1][2] Pringles were sold in more than 140 countries as of 2011, and Wikipedia counts five factories worldwide as of 2015, at Jackson in Tennessee, Mechelen in Belgium, Johor in Malaysia, Kutno in Poland and Fujian in China.[1]
