About

Legacy Recordings is an American record label that is a division of Sony Music Entertainment. Formed in 1990 after Sony's acquisition of CBS Records, it first handled the archives of Columbia Records and Epic Records, and from 2004, under the Sony BMG joint venture, also those of RCA, Arista, Jive and other labels.[1] Discogs describes it as Sony Music's catalogue and reissue label, introduced by Columbia Records in 1960 for historical recordings and relaunched by CBS Records in 1990, and gives its address as 550 Madison Avenue, New York.[2] Its 2004 25th Anniversary Legacy Edition of the Clash's London Calling is credited to Epic and Legacy.[3]
