About EMI
EMI is a British record label founded by the music company EMI in 1972 and launched in January 1973 as the successor to its Columbia and Parlophone labels, later used worldwide.[1] It was the label of the UK company EMI Records Ltd., whose label code is LC 0542.[2] Universal Music Group owns the label; in June 2020 it revived EMI as the successor to Virgin EMI, with Virgin Records operating as an imprint of EMI Records.[1]
