About Electro-Harmonix
Electro-Harmonix (EHX) is an effects-pedal brand for electric guitar and bass, founded in New York City by Mike Matthews in 1968; its best-known designs include the Big Muff fuzz, Small Stone phaser and Memory Man delay.[1] The original company closed in 1984, after which Matthews founded New Sensor Corporation, whose Sovtek vacuum-tube business let him buy back the Electro-Harmonix name; Sovtek made the pedals in Russia through the 1990s and production returned to New York in 2000.[1] A 2017 Federal Trade Commission closing letter names New Sensor Corporation as doing business as Electro-Harmonix.[2]
