About

Arla is the consumer dairy brand of Arla Foods amba, the Danish-Swedish co-operative formed on 17 April 2000 by the merger of the Swedish co-operative Arla and the Danish MD Foods; the name is an archaic Swedish word for "early in the morning" and goes back to the first Swedish co-operative dairy of 1881.[1] In Finland the brand is carried by Arla Oy, the group's Finnish subsidiary, on milk, yoghurt and cheese.[2]
