About this product

This is the French-labelled 250 ml can of Red Bull Energy Drink, the original Red Bull, under its own barcode, separate from the multi-country can 9002490100070.[2] The label is in French only, prints the Triman sorting mark and names Red Bull GmbH of Fuschl am See, Austria, as the company behind it.[1][3] The current recipe is carbonated water, sucrose and glucose, citric acid, taurine at 0.4 %, sodium and magnesium carbonates, caffeine at 0.03 %, four B vitamins, flavourings and the colours plain caramel and riboflavin, with 32 mg of caffeine per 100 ml.[3] Red Bull gives 80 mg of caffeine and 27 g of sugars for each can.[4] French shops list it at EUR 1.50 to 1.86.[5][6]

France was one of the countries that at first refused to let Red Bull be sold: the French food safety agency objected to taurine, a taurine-free Red Bull was sold there instead, and the agency gave way in 2008.[7] The oldest French label photographed for this barcode, from 2012, already contains taurine, along with glucuronolactone and inositol, which the 2020 and later lists no longer carry. It also uses sodium citrates where the later lists have sodium carbonates, and declares sodium rather than salt.[8] In 2020 the can had a strapline and www.redbull.fr where by 2021 it carried the authorised claim that niacin and vitamin B6 help reduce tiredness.[1][9]
