About this product
The Metric Halo Mobile I/O ULN-2 2d Expanded +DSP with two Jensen transformers is a one-rack-space FireWire audio interface and stand-alone mic preamp and converter from the American pro-audio maker Metric Halo, sold under part number 000-50006-2-JEN+DSP.[1] The ULN-2 provides four inputs and six outputs of simultaneous I/O with 24-bit/96 kHz conversion and two ultra-low-noise mic preamps with 72 dB of gain, and it runs from a laptop's FireWire bus or any 9 to 30 V DC source.[2] The +DSP version adds an on-board processor for Metric Halo plug-ins.[3] This configuration carries the factory-installed Jensen transformer option on both mic inputs, which Metric Halo says gives a more "glossy", "smoothed" sound and isolates the preamp electrically from the source.[4]
Metric Halo released the ULN-2 in 2002.[4] Sound On Sound reviewed the ULN2+DSP in August 2004, when the DSP version used an Analog Devices SHARC 21065 chip and the interface had Mac OS drivers only.[3] Metric Halo's current hardware range lists the ULN-8 mkIV, the LIO-8 mkIV, the LIO-8/4p mkIV and 3d card upgrades,[5] and its direct store sells a 3d card upgrade for legacy ULN-2 units.[6] The Amazon.com listing for this configuration was still online in September 2026.[1]
