Soybeans

About

Soybeans and products made from them are listed in Annex II of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, the substances causing allergies or intolerances that must be emphasised in an ingredient list.^[1] Brewed soy sauce starts from soybeans soaked in water and steamed, then mixed with roasted wheat.^[2] On Kikkoman's English soy sauce label they come second, after water, printed in capitals.^[3]
