Modified palm oil

About

Modified palm oil is the name Canadian ingredient lists give to palm oil that has been modified. Under the Food and Drug Regulations, a single vegetable oil that has been modified or fully hydrogenated must carry the word "modified" or "hydrogenated" in its common name, both on the front of the pack and in the list of ingredients; the Canadian Food Inspection Agency does not require interesterification to be named but encourages "interesterified" followed by the oil's name.^[1] The current Canadian Mars bar lists it in place of the hydrogenated palm and palm kernel oil of its earlier label.^[2]
