Microcrystalline wax is made by de-oiling petrolatum during petroleum refining. It holds more branched and naphthenic hydrocarbons than paraffin wax, its crystals are finer, and it is denser, tackier and higher-melting.[1] European cosmetic labels print it as cera microcristallina, as the base of Dove Body Love Rich Nourishment Cream does.[2]
