KitKat Green Tea Matcha is the European version of the matcha KitKat first sold in Japan, launched in February 2019 as the first Japanese KitKat flavour brought to Europe.[^foodnav][^nestlede] Each of the four-finger bars is a crisp wafer covered in white chocolate (68.2 % of the bar) with 1 % matcha green tea powder, and Nestlé Deutschland says the European bar is made at its Hamburg chocolate factory with matcha from Japan and China.[^packback][^nestlede] This barcode is the flow-wrapped pack of three 41.5 g bars, 124.5 g in all, whose wrapper names Nestlé Deutschland AG in Frankfurt and prints consumer-service lines for France, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland.[^packback] KitKat has belonged to Nestlé since it bought Rowntree's in 1988.[^wikikitkat]
FoodNavigator reported that the bar was made at a single site in Hamburg for distribution across Europe, rolling out first in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.[^foodnav] In Germany, Nestlé launched it in March 2019 as a single bar sold nationwide for a limited time.[^nestlede] The wrapper photographed in 2019 listed flavourings and salt; the 2021 artwork replaces them with natural vanilla flavouring and prints slightly different nutrition figures.[^pack19ing][^packback] A French wholesaler lists the pack with Germany as country of origin.[^miamland]
