## About <!--about-->
KitKat is the chocolate-covered wafer bar Rowntree's of York created in 1935; Nestlé has owned it since buying Rowntree's in 1988 and makes it everywhere except the United States.[^wikikitkat] This EAN-13 is the French flow-wrapped pack of six four-finger bars of 41.5 g, 249 g in all, with one bar counted as a portion.[^packfr23][^packfr25] The wrapper names Nestlé France in Issy-les-Moulineaux for consumer questions, and the French wholesaler Miamland gives Germany as the origin of the product.[^packfr23][^miamland] Each bar is a crisp wafer (31.8 %) covered in milk chocolate (68.2 %), and the cocoa is Rainforest Alliance certified on a mass-balance basis.[^packfr23]
The label has changed several times. The 2016 and 2018 wrappers gave nutrition per two fingers and counted twelve portions.[^packfr16nut][^packfr18nut] The 2020 wrapper declared 66 % milk chocolate with whole milk powder, mango kernel and sal fats, yeast and natural flavourings.[^packfr20] The 2022 wrapper listed the milk chocolate as a compound ingredient with pastry butter, followed by wheat flour, sugar and palm oil.[^packfr22ing] The 2023 artwork gives a single flat list with whey powder and shea fat, and the 2025 front adds a tree-planting "breaks for GOOD" panel.[^packfr23][^packfr25]
