## Research gaps <!--research_gaps-->
| observation | domain | state | detail | source |
| ----------- | --------- | -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| | identity | unknown | The length of the GS1 company prefix under 541168 is not confirmed and no public register names its licensee, so nothing was written to company/duvel-moortgat gs1_prefixes; the owner edge is derived. | |
| label-2019 | nutrition | not_applicable | No nutrition declaration is printed: a beverage over 1,2 % vol is exempt under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 Article 16(4), and the ingredient list on this pack is therefore voluntary. | ^eu1169 |
| front-2014 | packaging | stale | The front-label photograph dates from 2014 and the ingredient strip from 2019; no newer photograph of this barcode was found, so a current pack may carry a redesigned label. | ^off |
| | markets | not_researched | Only Dutch, French and Belgian listings were located. The beer is exported more widely, but no further national listing naming this GTIN was found. | |

## About <!--about-->
Maredsous 10 Triple is a Belgian abbey tripel of 10.0 % vol sold in a 330 ml glass bottle whose front label reads *Biere belge d'abbaye - Belgisch abdijbier* under the abbey shield.[^off-front][^off-alc] The Maredsous name, trade mark and recipes belong to the Benedictine abbey of Maredsous at Anhee, which has licensed its beers to Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat of Breendonk since 1964.[^nlwiki][^enwiki] The tripel joined the range in 1972 as Maredsous 9 and was renamed Maredsous 10 in 2001, and the beers have carried the recognised Belgian abbey beer label since 1999.[^nlwiki] Because a drink over 1,2 % vol is exempt from both the ingredient list and the nutrition declaration, the five-item list printed on the pack is voluntary.[^eu1169][^off-ingredients] The brewer describes it as amber with a rich white head and a bouquet of banana, raisin and caramel.[^maredsousbieres]
The recipe behind the range was drawn up in 1949 by Father Attout with the du Faleau brewery at Chatelineau; du Faleau closed in 1960 and, after quality suffered under its successors, the abbey moved the brewing to Duvel Moortgat in 1964.[^nlwiki] Duvel Moortgat is a fourth-generation family brewer founded in 1871 and registered in Puurs-Sint-Amands as Belgian enterprise 0400.764.903; Duvel, Vedett and Chouffe come from the same house.[^enwiki][^kbo] The beer referments in the bottle.[^asterx]
