| manufactured_by | company/brouwerij-mort-subite | | | | | printed | ^packback | Back label: "Gebrouwen in / Brassée à Mort Subite, Lierput 1, B-1730 Asse-Belgium". |
| brand_owner_at_sale | company/alken-maes | | | | | sourced | ^enwiki | Wikipedia lists the Mort Subite lambics among the beers of the Alken-Maes group. |
| gs1_prefix_owner | company/brouwerij-mort-subite | | | | | derived | ^offprefix | Prefix 5411656; no company stub states it and no source names the registrant. Every Open Food Facts pack in the block is a Mort Subite lambic, so the brewery is the inferred holder; the parent Alken-Maes would fit the evidence equally. |

## Research gaps <!--research_gaps-->
| observation | domain | state | detail | source |
| ----------- | ------------- | -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------- |
| | identity | unknown | Whether this article is still produced could not be established, so identity.status is left unset: the only label evidence is the 2015 photo set, and a web search for the barcode on 2026-09-14 returned no retailer listing that prints it. | |
| | markets | unknown | No price or dated retailer listing was found for this GTIN, so the Markets rows rest on printed marks alone; other Mort Subite kriek barcodes in the same prefix block are listed by French and Belgian shops. | ^offprefix |
| | relationships | unknown | No public source names the licensee of GS1 company prefix 5411656; the gs1_prefix_owner row is inferred from the brand of every Open Food Facts pack in the block and could equally point at the parent, Alken-Maes. | ^offprefix |
| | relationships | unknown | The pack names no food business operator beyond the brewing address, so no food_business_operator row is recorded. | ^packback |
| pack-2015 | ingredients | not_applicable | A beer above 1.2 % vol carries no ingredient list; the four rows come from the printed legal denomination with its 12 % QUID and from the allergen sentence, not from a declared list. | ^eulaw |
| pack-2015 | nutrition | not_applicable | No nutrition declaration is printed, for the same exemption. | ^eulaw |

## About <!--about-->
Mort Subite Original Kriek is a Belgian cherry lambic sold in a 25 cl brown glass bottle at 4.5 % vol.[^packback] Its back label calls it a lambic beer flavoured with cherries and elderberries, 12 % of the two fruits together, containing barley and wheat, and says it is brewed at Mort Subite, Lierput 1, B-1730 Asse.[^packback] No ingredient list or nutrition panel is printed, as Article 16(4) of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 exempts drinks above 1.2 % vol from both.[^eulaw] The brewery in Kobbegem, formerly Brouwerij De Keersmaeker, is one of the few in Belgium still brewing lambic; Alken-Maes bought half of it in 1989 and the rest in 2000, and that group has belonged to Heineken since 2008.[^nlwiki] Open Food Facts holds the pack, photographed in 2015.[^off]
The Mort Subite name comes from A la Mort Subite, a Brussels café and gueuze blendery the De Keersmaeker brewery took over in 1970, after which its Geuze Den Hert became Geuze Mort Subite.[^horal] The old Barcodepedia site carried this barcode in 2008 under the slug "mort-subite-kriek", but its page held no facts beyond a prefix-generated line.[^oldsite]
