Mars 51 g is the standard single Mars bar sold in Britain and Ireland: milk chocolate with a soft nougat (32 %) and caramel (27 %) centre, the recipe Forrest Mars Sr. first made in Slough in 1932.[^wp-mars][^off-51-back] The wrapper carries the British Mars Consumer Care block and the KLBD-D kosher mark,[^off-51-back] and the wholesaler Dee Bee lists Mars Wrigley Confectionery UK as its maker and the United Kingdom as its country of origin, with an Irish consumer address beside the British one.[^deebee-51] The bar settled at 51 g in 2013 after cuts from 62.5 g, and a 51 g bar gives 960 kJ (228 kcal).[^wp-mars][^deebee-51] In 2026 Mars replaced it with a 40 g bar at the same 75p price-mark.[^mars40g]
Dee Bee added this barcode to its range on 12 November 2013 and now shows it as no longer available, pointing to the 40 g bar instead; when asked about the cut, a Mars Wrigley spokesperson said the company had made "select updates to our bar sizes and pack formats".[^deebee-51][^mars40g] Convenience stores in London still listed the 51 g bar at GBP 0.90 in September 2026.[^devo-51] The ingredient statement on Dee Bee's sheet is the same, word for word, as the one photographed on the wrapper in 2018.[^deebee-51][^off-51-back]
