Wipeout is the North American PlayStation release of the 1995 anti-gravity racing game, catalogue number SCUS-94301, released on 21 November 1995.[^psxdc] It was developed and published by the Liverpool studio Psygnosis,[^wiki] a wholly owned Sony Computer Entertainment subsidiary since 1993.[^wiki-psygnosis] Set in 2052 in the F3600 racing league, it offers eight craft on seven tracks and a two-player link-cable mode.[^psxdc] The disc is a mixed-mode CD: one data track followed by eight audio tracks by CoLD SToRAGE.[^mb] The front of the long-box pack carries the PlayStation logo, the NTSC U/C mark and an ESRB K-A rating,[^psxdc-cover] and retroplace lists the same barcode on a 1997 Greatest Hits reissue.[^retroplace]
The game launched with the PlayStation in Europe on 29 September 1995, was the console's best-selling European launch title and reached the United States in November; The Designers Republic and Keith Hopwood designed its packaging and marketing.[^wiki] The old Barcodepedia page for this barcode, archived in 2009, had wrongly described it as a PlayStation 2 game.[^oldbp]
