Uncle Ben's Converted Original is a 2 kg bag of long grain parboiled rice sold in Canada under the rice brand now called Ben's Original.[^off][^wp-bens] Its English and French label lists one ingredient, long grain parboiled rice, and gives nutrition per 30 g of dry rice, about 125 mL cooked, with a gluten-free claim on the front.[^off] Mars Canada, known as Effem Inc. until 2007, markets the brand in Canada.[^wp-mars-canada] The Converted name goes back to Converted Rice, Inc., the company that sold parboiled rice made by the Huzenlaub process from 1942.[^wp-bens] Open Food Facts tags the record as sold in France, but the Canadian label format and a Metro.ca listing under this UPC point to Canada.[^off][^metro]
The photographed pack, uploaded in 2018, still carries the Uncle Ben's name and portrait; Mars Food Canada said Ben's Original packs were widely available in Canadian stores by November 2021.[^mars-ca-2021] The 2006-2013 Barcodepedia page for this barcode, imported from upcdatabase.com, called it a "clear shotglass", which the label photos contradict.[^bp2008]
