Identity confirmed by MusicBrainz (release b4a6625e, barcode 028947401025, 2 Dec 2002, 60 tracks) and Discogs release 16107990 (same barcode and catalogue number, credits, per-disc recording dates, AAD/ADD), and by Deutsche Grammophon's own catalogue page and the Decca Records US store, both printing UPC 00028947401025 (US Markets row, USD 36.98, observed 2026-09-14). Context from MusicWeb International's April 2003 review (428:42 total time, DG/Decca/Westminster sources 1956-63), the Violin Channel (2017 re-release) and Wikipedia (quartet history). Reused existing brand/deutsche-grammophon and company/deutsche-grammophon. Gaps: no source names the GS1 prefix 0028947 registrant, so there is no gs1_prefix_owner edge; no pressing plant or (p)/(c) line; release country is disputed (MusicBrainz says worldwide, Discogs says Europe). The Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon is a seven-CD box set by the Czech Janáček Quartet, issued by Deutsche Grammophon in its Original Masters series under catalogue number 474 010-2.[^discogs][^mb] It gathers string quartets by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Dvořák, Smetana and Janáček, Mendelssohn's Octet with the Smetana Quartet, and piano quintets by Brahms and Dvořák with the pianist Eva Bernáthová, recorded between 1956 and 1963 for Deutsche Grammophon, Decca and Westminster.[^musicweb] MusicBrainz dates the first release to 2 December 2002, and Deutsche Grammophon lists the same UPC for its 2017 re-release of the series.[^mb][^dg][^violin]
The quartet was founded in 1947 by students at the Brno Conservatory and took Leoš Janáček's name in 1949; its line-up stayed unchanged from 1952 until the death of the first violinist Jiří Trávníček in 1973.[^wiki] The old Barcodepedia listed this barcode in 2007 as "JANACEK QUARTET - COMPLETE DG RECORDINGS".[^archive-2007]
