## About <!--about-->
Aurora: Music of the Northern Lights is a double CD of Nordic orchestral music played by the Göteborgs Symfoniker under Neeme Järvi, released by Deutsche Grammophon on 1 October 2002 under catalogue number 471 747-2.[^dg][^mb] Its 30 tracks, about two hours and 37 minutes in all, run from Grieg's "Morning Mood" and Sibelius's Finlandia to Alfvén's Midsommarvaka, Rautavaara's Cantus Arcticus and Lumbye's Copenhagen Steam Railway Galop.[^mb] MusicBrainz dates the recordings from May 1986 to June 2002; most were first issued on earlier albums, and eight were recorded in June 2002 for this set.[^mb] Discogs files it with a Swedish-titled edition, Aurora: Nordiska Orkesterfavoriter (474 128-2), under one master release.[^discogs-master]
Järvi was the orchestra's principal conductor from 1982 to 2004, a tenure that brought it a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.[^wiki-gso] The old Barcodepedia listed this barcode in 2007 as "JARVI NEEME - MUSIC OF THE NORTHERN LIGH".[^archive-2007]
